Seven laws

The system is these laws. The bans are only how they cut.

    One gesture

    A garment carries one architectural idea. A second idea is a different garment.

  2. 02

    Zero ornament

    Hardware is structure or it is removed. One element at most. No logos, no trim, no story.

  3. 03

    Seam is drawing

    The seam is the only graphic. If it does not change the body, it is cut.

  4. 04

    Air is a measure

    Ease is 4, 12, or 28 centimeters. “Oversized” is not a size.

  5. 05

    Color is a surface

    Bone, graphite, void, mercury. No print, no pattern, no second hue on a single plane.

  6. 06

    Closure disappears

    The fastening is the last thing found, never the first thing seen.

  7. 07

    It stands alone

    Finished clothes hold their shape off the body. Drift is the exception: gravity is the stay.

Refusals15 bans

  • No drape

    Ceramic fiber cannot drift or take air. It keeps a crease, not a drape.

  • No projection

    Air knit cannot hold a cantilever or a shell.

  • Uncontrolled shine

    Liquid metal at air volume inside a cocoon throws uncontrolled reflection.

  • Map the seam

    Membrane is bonded. If the seam is not mapped, the garment is lying.

  • Too light

    Technical silk is too light to be a shell or a cantilever.

  • Will not wrap

    Liquid metal does not wrap.

  • Fold breaks

    Ceramic fiber will not wrap. The fold breaks.

  • Wrong form

    A disc reads only on a shell or a column.

  • Bar needs a line

    A bar has to continue a slash or a mapped seam.

  • Cocoon is air

    A cocoon is the air. Close volume cancels it.

  • Sheath is close

    A sheath is second skin. Volume has to be close.

  • Drift is air

    Drift is one release of cloth. Volume has to be air.

  • Needs offset

    A cantilever needs offset. Close volume pins it to the body.

  • Not a tent

    A shell is architecture, not a tent.

  • Disc fastens

    A disc is a fastening. It cannot sit on a closure of none.
